Class Descriptions

  • Little Learners Playgroup: For 2 year olds and their parents. This class is especially designed for those children who are not quite old enough for preschool but are ready to explore the classroom and the world around them. Little Learners embraces a sensory approach to learning through art projects, listening to stories, singing songs and playtime in the gym. Preparing your child with the basic skills offered in the class will allow for a much smoother transition to later pre-school classes at Young Learners. Classes meet Friday mornings 9:30-11:00am. Tuition is $750.00 per year or $75.00 monthly.

  • Two-Day 3's: Students must be 3 years old or older. Three year olds are busy and curious. Our goal is to channel these wonderful behaviors and guide them into the world of learning. Classes focus on social interaction, language development and fine motor and gross motor activities. Class size is limited to 14. Classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9:00-11:30am, or in the afternoon from 12:30-3:00pm. Tuition is $1,500.00 per year or $150.00 monthly.

  • Three-Day Transition: Students must be 3.5 years or older. This class is for the older three year old who is comfortable in a classroom setting and ready for a three day program. Focus is social and language development and introduction to pre-reading and math concepts. Class size is limited to 16. Classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning from 9:00-11:30am, or in the afternoon from 12:30-3:00pm. Tuition is $1,850.00 per year or $185.00 monthly.

  • Three-Day 4's: Students must be 4 years old or older. Four year olds are ready to be independent and are becoming aware of the world around them. Science, math and beginning reading activities are combined with social interaction and cooperative play to make an active class. Class size is limited to 18. Classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning from 8:30-11:30am, or in the afternoon from 12:30-3:30pm. Tuition is $1,970.00 per year or $197.00 monthly.

  • Four-day 4's: Students must be 4 years old or older. We are excited to add this new schedule option this year. This 4-day 4's class will follow the same curriculum guide as our 3-day 4's, but with an additional day for further learning. This class focuses on expanding pre-reading, writing, science and math concepts as well as social development. Class size is limited to 18. Classes meet Monday through Thursday morning from 8:30-11:30am, or in the afternoon from 12:30-3:30pm. Tuition is $2,570.00 per year or $257.00 per monthly.

  • Pre-K Students: Students must be 4 years old or older. Our Pre-K class meets the growing needs of students who are ready for a 5-day program. Pre-K allows children to expand skills including independent decision making, pre-reading, writing, science and math concepts. Children will learn to better manage social situations with greater independence preparing them for Kindergarten. Class size is limited to 20. Classes meet Monday through Friday morning from 8:30-11:30am, or in the afternoon from 12:30-3:30pm. Tuition is $2,870.00 or $287.00 monthly.

  • Kindergarten: Students must be 5 by September 1, 2010. With the growing class sizes and limited hours, many parents have concerns about the kindergarten programs in the public schools. There are not many private programs in our area and families are feeling like the options are very limited. Young Learners offers an exceptional extended day kindergarten. Classes meet Monday through Friday morning from 9:00am-1:00pm and our class size is limited to 15. Class curriculum follows Oregon Department of Education and Beaverton School Districts learning targets and benchmarks. Tuition is $3,750.00 per year or $375.00 monthly.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

May I enroll my child in the two day Threes Class if he or she is not yet 3?

Oregon state law requires that children under 36 months cannot be in a preschool classroom unless a parent is in the building. Young Learners policy is that for enrolling these children under 36 months, who have third birthdays between September and December, a parent can enroll the child and the child can begin with their class in September. The parent, or parent designated representative, will need to stay on-site during class time. After the child's third birthday, they no longer need to stay in the building. We have a space for parents to wait and read, knit or visit with other parents. Or they can help with little jobs around the school (cutting, copying, hanging bulletin boards, etc.) Young Learners reserves the right to ask children to wait until they are three years of age to begin.

What is the difference between the two day Three's and the three Day Transition classes?

Children who are not comfortable away from their parents or have not been in a classroom setting before will be better in our 2-day class. There is a morning or afternoon option and class size is limited to 14 children. Our 2-day 3's continues to take children throughout the year as they turn three years of age.

Children who are 3 1/2 in September or are turning four in the fall should go into the Transition class. Transition has a morning and afternoon program, and class size is limited to 16 children. The cost of our Transition program is $1,850.00 per year, or $185.00 per month September through June.

What is the difference between the three day Four's, the four day Four's and the Pre-K classes?

Any student that is four years of age by September 1st can enroll in any of these classes. If a child is in a lot of activities a three or four days program may be enough (we do not believe in over booking children), but the choice is up to the parents. The biggest difference in the classes is the number of days they attend. Since the Pre-K students come five days a week they have more exposure to activities, but the goals for the three, four and five day classes are very similar. All classes have morning and afternoon classes; the three day and four day Four's are limited to 18 children per class, the 5 day Pre-K is limited to 20 children per class. They all meet for 3 hours; the morning program runs from 8:30am-11:30am and the afternoon program is from 12:30pm-3:30pm.

What are the enrollment guidelines for the Kindergarten class?

Students must be five by September 1st to attend our extended day Kindergarten program. Class curriculum follows Oregon Department of Education and Beaverton School Districts learning targets and benchmarks. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 - 1:00 PM. Class size is limited to 15 children.

How do I register for summer camps?

Summer camp registration is a separate process that will begin in April. More information about the camp times, themes, cost, etc. will be available at the end of March/beginning of April. We will send this information home with students and post it to the website.
