Answers to Frequently Asked QuestionsMay I enroll my child in the two day Threes Class if he or she is not yet 3? Oregon state law requires that children under 36 months cannot be in a preschool classroom unless a parent is in the building. Young Learners policy is that for enrolling these children under 36 months, who have third birthdays between September and December, a parent can enroll the child and the child can begin with their class in September. The parent, or parent designated representative, will need to stay on-site during class time. After the child's third birthday, they no longer need to stay in the building. We have a space for parents to wait and read, knit or visit with other parents. Or they can help with little jobs around the school (cutting, copying, hanging bulletin boards, etc.) Young Learners reserves the right to ask children to wait until they are three years of age to begin. What is the difference between the two day Three's and the three Day Transition classes? Children who are not comfortable away from their parents or have not been in a classroom setting before will be better in our 2-day class. There is a morning or afternoon option and class size is limited to 14 children. Our 2-day 3's continues to take children throughout the year as they turn three years of age. Children who are 3 1/2 in September or are turning four in the fall should go into the Transition class. Transition has a morning and afternoon program, and class size is limited to 16 children. The cost of our Transition program is $1,850.00 per year, or $185.00 per month September through June. What is the difference between the three day Four's, the four day Four's and the Pre-K classes? Any student that is four years of age by September 1st can enroll in any of these classes. If a child is in a lot of activities a three or four days program may be enough (we do not believe in over booking children), but the choice is up to the parents. The biggest difference in the classes is the number of days they attend. Since the Pre-K students come five days a week they have more exposure to activities, but the goals for the three, four and five day classes are very similar. All classes have morning and afternoon classes; the three day and four day Four's are limited to 18 children per class, the 5 day Pre-K is limited to 20 children per class. They all meet for 3 hours; the morning program runs from 8:30am-11:30am and the afternoon program is from 12:30pm-3:30pm. What are the enrollment guidelines for the Kindergarten class? Students must be five by September 1st to attend our extended day Kindergarten program. Class curriculum follows Oregon Department of Education and Beaverton School Districts learning targets and benchmarks. Classes meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 - 1:00 PM. Class size is limited to 15 children. How do I register for summer camps? Summer camp registration is a separate process that will begin in April. More information about the camp times, themes, cost, etc. will be available at the end of March/beginning of April. We will send this information home with students and post it to the website. |
